Zentangle (R) Inspired Art…It’s the Next Step!

Course Description: Have you taken an Introduction to Zentangle class and want to learn more about enhancing your Zentangle creations? Then Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) is for you! This class requires that you have studied the basics of the Zetangle Method. We will take this meditative art form further as we enhance our original Zentangle drawings with highlighting, color, and creativity. This class will meet on Zoom, and students will be required to purchase their own supplies. 6-week class starting January 15.
Notes: Zentangle Inspired Art requires that you have studied the Zentangle Method. This is a 6-class starting January 15. To participate, you must have access to personal internet plus technology capable of using the Zoom app. Students will be responsible for purchasing their own supplies.
Class Leader Bio(s): Shannon Flynn is a retired classroom teacher who found Zentangle in 2020 and fell in love. She had never before been successful at any visual art form, but the Zentangle Method changed that! In 2020 she attended the international seminar to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher and started teaching small classes locally. Shannon also leads an online group of tanglers called Fabtangling Fun as they participate in guided tangling twice monthly. She has been a guest instructor at two Zenjo Zentangle retreats, 2022 in Wisconsin and 2023 in Wales, UK.
Beginners Crochet

Course Description: You will learn basic crochet terms, stitches and work on projects.
Notes: There is an $18 supply fee payable at the first class to cover the supplies needed.
Class Leader Bio(s): Barbie Brink was born #12 of 14 children in Ohio. In 1997 she left Campbell’s Soup to open a special occasion/bridal seamstress and Embroidery business and crocheting was a welcome way to relax. In 2020 she moved to Florida and started a quest to master the art of making Amigurumi, which is the art of making dolls and animals.
International Studies

Course Description: This course broadly covers the activities/relations between Sovereign States addressing War, Diplomacy, Trade, and Foreign Policy. While providing summaries of current events on the International Stage we will attempt to discover apparent and fundamental changes underway in the 21st Century and relevancy to American security interests and well-being. The course follows a Geopolitical approach attempting an understanding in 2025 of an ever more complex, chaotic, and perilous World.
Class Leader Bio(s): Barry Pritchett is a retired Army Officer who served in the Corps of Engineers in various assignments around the US and Europe. He is a former instructor at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Acrylic Painting - Landscapes/Seascapes

Course Description: With help from the instructor, you will create several acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes. No experience is necessary. This is a 4-week double session class meeting January 16 - February 6.
Notes: $40 supply fee, non-refundable fee due at first class. Double session 4-week course meeting January 16, 23, 30 and February 6.
Class Leader Bio(s): Pat Roberts is a local artist. She is an active member of the Arts and Design Society and Okaloosa Public Arts. Pat exhibits as well as teaches at ADSO and HH Arts.
Yoga Gentle Flow

Course Description: Yoga Vinyasa Flow is conducive to beginning or continuing a gentle Yoga Hatha practice to improve balance, flexibility and mindfulness. This is a 7-week class.
Notes: This is a 7-week class meeting on January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20 and March 6. Bring your own yoga mat. A small blanket, blocks, strap are optional.VFW Post 7674, 213 Carol Ave NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

Pickleball - Intermediate (10:00 – 11:00)

Course Description: This class is designed for the pickleball player who has a basic understanding of the rules of the game, knows how to score and can serve and return the ball consistently. The class will be run with 30 minutes of drills and 30 minutes of instructed game play.
Notes: Please bring your paddle. If you don’t have one, we have a few that can be borrowed. Gym shoes are required, preferably court shoes.
Class Leader Bio(s): Stan Budzinski has been playing pickleball for a year and also loves sharing and playing the sport with others. Ann Vaughan has been playing pickleball for many years and loves sharing and playing the sport with others.
Tour of Emerald Coast Science Center

Course Description: The Emerald Coast Science Center’s mission is to inspire and grow a scientifically engaged community. The indoor and outdoor exhibits include robotics, electricity, color, light, sound, space, and our ecosystem, to name just a few. Their room sized iPad, called the sciPad exhibit, embodies a learning environment where every person is up, moving, and collaborating. Working together, you can solve puzzles, create stories, study the world, and create digital masterpieces. This one- time class will meet on Thursday, January 16, 10:00 to 12:00.
