 Course Description:  Are you ready to learn how to use your iPad effectively? This course will take you from the very basics to making your iPad your own. Individual needs will be addressed to make sure everyone has an opportunity to learn. We will explore the most popular iPad tricks and topics, including how to get the most out of your iPad experience. Students must bring their own iPads to class. This is a six-week course.

Instructor Bio:  Dolores Noechel is a former Ruckel math teacher, OCSD Instructional Technology and Media Services Specialist, and Assistant Principal at Fort Walton Beach High School.

Course Description: 

This class is designed for the pickleball player who has a basic understanding of the rules of the game, knows how to score and canserve and return the ball consistently. The class will be run with 30 minutes of drills and 30 minutes of instructed game play.

Instructor Bio: Stan Budzinski has been playing pickleball for 3 years and loves sharing and playing the sport with others. Mary Plummer has been playing pickleball for many years and loves sharing and playing the sport with others.

Notes: Please bring your paddle. If you don’t have one, we have a few that can be borrowed. Gym shoes are required, preferably court shoes.

Course Description:  Learn the basics of playing the ukulele in a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment. This beginner-friendly class covers essential chords, simple strumming patterns, and easy songs to help you build confidence. No prior musical experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm!

Instructor Bio:  Jackie Youngblood began playing ukulele several years ago with a CLL beginner’s class.  She immediately fell in love with the instrument and now teaches two ukulele groups and performs in the community.

Notes:  Bring your ukulele (Jackie has a couple for sale or look on FB Marketplace for a used ukulele).  You will also need a tuner.  The Church at Shalimar, 1 Old Ferry Rd, Shalimar.

Course Description:  No need to get up and down from the floor! Classes will be conducted seated in a chair or standing position.  This is a 6-week class starting September 10.

Instructor Bio:  Lura is a Certified 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher. She has been teaching the softer side yoga such as Restorative, Gentle, and Beginners classes for the last 9 years and practicing yoga for 18 years.

Notes:  This is a 6-week course meeting on September 10, 17, 24, October 1, 8, and 15. Wear comfortable clothing. Please arrive 15 minutes before class time to prepare for class. Doors will be locked at 1:15 to start on time. Classes will be held at: Symmetry Integrative Health 22 SW Beal Pkwy, FWB, FL 32548. Parking and Entrance is in the back of building on Bass Avenue SW.

Tour of 3rd Planet Brewing Co.

Tour Description: The 3rd Planet Brewing Co. was founded by two Air Force veterans in 2015 and now produces around 2,000 barrels annually. The brewery has received many awards, including the Finest Craft Brewery in NW Florida. During the tour on September 10 at 4:00, the head brewer will explain the brewing process and the types of beer produced.

Tour Host Bio: Brian Detweiler is the Head Brewer and a co-owner of the brewery.

Notes: We will meet Thursday, September 10 at 4:00PM, at the 3rd Planet Brewery Co., 1400 John Sims Parkway, Niceville, FL. The brewery garage door will be lifted upon arrival and we will meet at the entrance to begin the tour. After the tour, feel free to choose from the many selections of beer in the taproom (at your own expense).

Drones for Beginners

Course Description:  If you have just purchased a drone, or are about to do so, this class is for you.  Learn the different types of drones that are available and which one to buy for your needs. Learn how to fly a drone safely and stay within FAA regulations. The class will also provide tips on how to shoot video with a drone and edit it. Beginning classes will be conducted indoors with the Tello Drone.  Students will be given the opportunity to fly more complex camera drones during outdoor class sessions.  All drones will be provided for class use.

Instruction Bio:  Billy Walker has taught Video Processing and iPad classes at CLL for several years. He owns three drones and has been flying them for over five years. Walt Spodeck, an FAA licensed drone and commercial aircraft pilot  will be the co-leader for this course.  Walt owns 4 drones and has been flying them several years.

Knit I - Beginning Knitting

Course Description:  There is so much more to knitting than just Knit 1 and Purl 2. Come join us to learn the basic knit stitch and purl stitch and expand those skills to include casting on, binding off, increases, and decreases. Once you learn these building blocks, you can make scarves, sweaters, shawls, blankets, and so much more. This is a 6-week class. A class supplies kit can be purchased for $20.

Instructor Bio:  Kristine Matthews initially learned to knit in a junior high home economics class, and she picked it back up 25 years ago. Today she’s rarely without pretty yarn and needles somewhere close by.

Catherine Burger has been knitting for many years and has knit countless baby items, blankets, dishcloths, and scarves over the years. She has recently expanded into socks, hats and adult garments and is enjoying every stitch.

Additional Notes:  This is a 6-week class meeting September 11, 18, 25, October 2, 9, and 16. The class requires around 200 yards of worsted weight yarn (preferably not cotton) and a pair of size 8 or 9 straight and/or circular needles. You have the option of purchasing supplies from me on the first day of class for $20.
