Tour of Creative Fused Glass - January 30
with Anita Vasquez
Course Description: Fused glass creations are beautiful and easy to create. This is not stained glass or blown glass but is known as kiln formed glass. During the 2-hour tour we will make 2 projects with sheet glass, noodles, stringers and dots of glass. We will fire your projects within 2 weeks following the tour date. The art glass we are using is handmade, very unique and beautiful. It is very expensive glass, and we fire the pieces in the kiln for up to two firings that take almost 24 hours each. You will be amazed at what you create! A $30 fee will be collected on January 30 to cover materials and firing. We will meet on January 30 from 1:00 to 3:00.

Notes: We will meet at: Paradise Glassworks 2 David Street, Unit E Fort Walton Beach Students need to wear close-toed shoes in the studio. Eyeglasses are required in the studio which we provide or you may use your own.
Tour of Destin History and Fishing Museum

Course Description: At the Destin History and Fishing Museum, Destin’s history is preserved by stimulating interest in and understanding of the village of Destin, its history, and its fishing and tourism industries, through experiences that educate and inspire. The museum features the history of the early pioneers from the 1830s and the history of the fishing industry from seine boats to the boats seen on Destin Harbor today. This one-time tour will be at the Destin History and Fishing Museum on Wednesday, February 4, 10:00 to 12:00.
Class Leader Bio(s): Vivienne Williams grew up in Shalimar, FL and received both of her degrees from UWF (Bachelor’s in History and Master’s in Public History). She has experience as an historic interpreter at the UWF Historic Trust. After working two Public Program Internships at the Mystic Seaport Museum, she became the director at the Destin History and Fishing Museum. She has served in that position for four years and loves it.

Heirs Notebook: A Guide Where to Find Everything
with Pat Guidry
Course Description: If you have put off compiling instructions for others to know where everything financial, family or household, this 4-week class starting February 4, is for you. There will be homework each week as we compile part of your “Heirs Notebook” but it will be personal and private that way.
Class Leader Bio(s): Pat Guidry is a retired Real Estate Broker and owner of her own company. Presently she is the CLL Treasurer and part of the Curriculum Committee.
Notes: This is a 4-week class meeting February 4, 11, 18 and 25. Class attendees should bring a simple 3-hole notebook, paper and pen to class to start.

Tour of How to Go to College for Free (Where to Look for Money)
with Barbarann Gay
Course Description: Explore ways to find financial aid for students, through scholarships, grants, high school counselor, businesses, churches, parents, employers, grants and work study.
Class Leader Bio(s): Barbaran Gay has thirty years’ experience as a high school counselor in Charleston SC, Emerald Isle, NC and New Haven, CN.
Notes: Note taking & questions are encouraged. Bring a pencil/pen and a notebook to take notes.
Basic Pottery - Session “B” February 10 - March 3

Course Description: You will be making a hand coiled table basket with a motif of your choosing. There is a $40.00 non-refundable supply fee to cover materials. This is a double session, 4-weeks course, Session “B” is the same class as Basic Pottery “A”. Only sign up for one Pottery class.
Class Leader Bio(s): Sherry Cooler has been a potter and instructor for 30 plus years. She loves hand-building and creating pottery with found objects as well as sharing what she knows. Pat Basque will be the co-leader for this course.
Notes: There is a $40.00 non-refundable supply fee to cover Session “B” meets February 10, 17, 24 and March 3. materials. This is a double session, 4-weeks course.
Tour of the 911 Center
with Capt. Neslihan Suhi-Moore
Course Description: This tour will show the operations of the 911 Center. It is the primary answering point for all of Okaloosa County for sheriff, fire, and medical rescues. This tour is on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00.
Class Leader Bio(s): Capt. Neslihan Suhi-Moore is a 20-year veteran with the sheriff’s department. Prior to leading the 911 Center, she worked in criminal investigations and was a patrol officer.
Notes: We will meet at 911 Center (located on the Northwest Florida State College Campus) 100 E. College Blvd. Niceville, FL Use the first NWFSC entrance closest to SR 85 and across from Cedar Avenue. You should see the Sheriff Larry Gilbert, Emergency Operations Center building on the right.
Acrylic Painting - Still Life Flowers

Course Description: With help from the instructor, you will create several acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes. No experience is necessary. This is a 4-week double session class. There is a $40 non-refundable fee.
Class Leader Bio(s): Pat Roberts is a local artist. She is an active member of the Arts and Design Society and Okaloosa Public Arts. Pat exhibits as well as teaches at ADSO and HH Arts.
Notes: This is a 4-week double session course meeting on February 12, 19, 26 and March 5. There is a $40 non-refundable supply fee due at the first class
