Course Description: Why do YOU DO what YOU DO? This class will explore the mind/body connection focusing on how our subconscious mind controls our reactions/behaviors and how we can take control back and stop sabotaging ourselves. This is a 6-week class starting on September 24.

Notes: This is a 6 week class meeting September 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.

Class Leader Bio(s): Holly Brelia is a retired Army aviator, RN and has a MS in counseling and psychology. She loves to learn and loves sharing her knowledge.

The Rise and Fall of the Nazis

Course Description: We will discuss the history from 1848 to WWI to Versailles and then to the Nazi’s taking power in 1933. Along the way, there was the Night of Broken Glass and the Night of the Long Knives and other issues such as 34,000 sex slaves that served German soldiers. We will continue on to the Wansee Conference and the Final Solution. We will conclude at the end in 1945, with a suicide in a Berlin bunker. Come with an open mind, I guarantee to give you something you never learned in a public school.

Class Leader Bio(s): Steven Duke has a BA and MA from UWF. After retiring from Allstate Insurance, he began working for the largest law firm in Fort Walton Beach. He enjoys writing, photography and doting on his grandchildren.

Course Description: This class explores what we think we know about crime and justice. Where do we get our information? How valid is the information we get? Where can we go to find “the truth”? Is there even such a thing as the truth about crime and justice? I hope you noticed the number of question marks in this course description – there will be more questions as we go through the course.

Class Leader Bio(s): Dr. Kathy Johnson received a BS in 1987 and MS in 1989 in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University. Her PhD in Criminology is from Indiana University in Pennsylvania. She is currently a tenured associate professor of Criminal Justice for UWF.

Course Description: You will learn songs as well as the fundamentals necessary to continue to progress with the instrument.

Notes: This is a 7-week class starting September 26. Students must bring to class an acoustic guitar w/guitar strap and the following Hal Leonard instruction book: Guitar Method Book 1, by Will Schmid and Greg Koch. Make sure the edition states, “Audio Access Included” on the front cover. The book is available @ UpBeat Music, Playgound Music, and Amazon for about $15.

Course Description: In the 1990, Jon Gabriel started gaining weight for no reason. By 2001 he weighed over 400 pounds. He tried every diet, even seeing Dr. Atkins, and the weight wouldn’t budge. After 9/11 he realized that life was precious and started using visualizations to lose over 220 pounds. His non-diet method has helped thousands of people reach their ideal weight and life goals. Join me as we work through his 12-week program (2 weeks per session) to learn how you can use your mind to finally release what’s holding you back from you ideal life. This is a 6-week class.
