15-Minute Yoga with Friends

Course Description: Studies show a short daily yoga practice with friends is beneficial to your mind and body. (Ok well, that was my study with me being the subject and I feel much better when I do this!) This is a quick session to get your day started. We will sign on to Zoom and have a short chat over coffee and then do a 15-min (approx.) yoga session. Yoga flow via YouTube instructors.

Class Leader Bio(s): Nicole Blatt is not a yoga instructor, but she started doing a daily routine on zoom with friends during the Covid shutdown and has continued ever since. She has two 8th grade boys and definitely needs this after hustling the boys off to school each morning. Lynn Walton fell in love with our “coffee-talk” yoga group about a year ago and then took the lead all summer.  Often her dogs Java and Bella join in the yoga session too.

Notes: This class meets on-line via Zoom daily Monday - Friday 8:30-9:00. Join us when you can on these days for an energizing start to your day.

Chair Yoga in Person

Course Description: Chairs provided at the VFW. This is a 7-week class. Yoga poses adapted to seated positions with optional standing using the chair as a prop. The practice emphasizes breath with the movement to build resilience and reduce stress This is a 7-week class.

Class Leader Bio(s): Annette Seda has Yoga Alliance 200-HR RYT certification.

Notes: This is a 7-week class meeting on January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, and 23. Chairs will be provided. Optional equipment recommended includes 1-2 yoga blocks and a strap.

Easy Line Dance

Course Description: Easy Line Dance is a beginner's introduction to basic line dances. Participation will exercise your brain and heart while you learn the dances done at family gatherings. Even if you don't master them at first, keep trying; a challenge is good for you!!

Class Leader Bio(s): Bunny Klein is a retired physical education teacher. She loves to line dance and hopes you will love it too.

Improver Line Dance

Course Description: This line dance class is designed for line dancers who wish to be challenged beyond absolute beginner. In this class we dance to a wide variety of music. You will learn some of the worldwide Top 20 easy dances as well as old favorites. Great exercise and great fun!

Class Leader Bio(s): Aggie Marler loves to dance! She began in couple's ballroom/country dancing, but fell in love with line dancing at the World Dance Championships 2001. Since then, she has had the privilege to teach line dancing, to deejay at national dance events for more than 10 years, and to teach local classes for more than 15 years.

Ballroom Dancing for Beginners

Course Description: We will be focusing on the basic foundational elements of Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, and Swing so you can enjoy dancing at your next social event and a fun, light cardio workout.

Class Leader Bio(s): Rachel Richey has been teaching ballroom dancing for 20 years. She is born and raised in Destin and has specialized in wedding choreography since 2010. She has done numerous showcases and competitions and now enjoys being a mother, wife, vocalists for the band “Hashtag Swing”, as well as a part-time dance instructor.

Notes: Please come ready to dance in comfortable shoes preferably something that is easy to rotate on a plank wood floor such as flats or shoes without a thick rubber sole. Bottled water is encouraged.

Tai Chi at Mathis Martial Arts

Course Description: Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.

Class Leader Bio(s): Kevin Mathis and his whole family have been teaching Martial Arts in Fort Walton Beach for over 35 years. Kevin is a 9th degree black belt and has traveled & taught all over the world.

Ballet for Balance

Course Description: This is a class for active adults who want to improve their balance while learning the basics of ballet. No tutus or leotards required! No previous ballet experience necessary.

Class Leader Bio(s): Marcy Hancock has many years of dance experience including ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary and more. Sharing her love of dance and making dance accessible for all brings her great joy. Let’s dance!!

Notes: Please dress in stretchy, comfortable clothing and ballet shoes.

Zumba Gold Seated Dance Fitness

Calendar Jan 14, 2026 at 11 am, runs for 8 weeks

Course Description: This is a fun dance fitness workout while safely seated in a chair. There are dance routines that work on each of the major muscle groups in a fun way that does not seem like you’re working out, ending with a 5-minute stretch.

Class Leader Bio(s): Dawn Hamilton has been a Zumba instructor for 11 years. She has Zumba Gold classes in Niceville and FWB. She has loved the joy of dancing and working out with everyone regardless of their fitness level.

Notes: This is and 8-week class, please wear comfortable clothes and bring a bottle of water.
