Tour of Creative Fused Glass - September 8

Course Description: Fused glass creations are beautiful and easy to create. This is not stained glass or blown glass but is known as kiln formed glass. During the 2-hour tour we will make 2 projects with sheet glass, noodles, stringers and dots of glass. We will fire your projects within 2 weeks following the tour date. The art glass we are using is handmade, very unique and beautiful. It is very expensive glass, and we fire the pieces in the kiln for up to two firings that take almost 24 hours each. You will be amazed at what you create! A $30 fee will be collected on September 8 to cover materials and firing. We will meet on September 8 from 1:00 to 3:00.

Notes: A $30 fee will be collected to cover materials and firing. We will meet on September 8 from 1:00 to 3:00, at: Paradise Glassworks 2 David Street, Unit E Fort Walton Beach Students need to wear close-toed shoes in the studio. Eyeglasses are required in the studio which we provide or you may use your own.
Tour of 3rd Planet Brewing Co.

Course Description: The 3rd Planet Brewing Co. was founded by two Air Force veterans in 2015 and now produces around 2,000 barrels annually. The brewery has received many awards, including the Finest Craft Brewery in NW Florida. During the tour on September 9 at 3:00, the head brewer will explain the brewing process and the types of beer produced.
Class Leader Bio(s): Brian Detweiler is the Head Brewer and a co-owner of the brewery.
Notes: This one-day tour on Tuesday, September 9, at 3:00, will meet at the brewery: 3rd Planet Brewery Co. 1400 John Sims Parkway Niceville, FL The brewery garage door will be lifted upon arrival and will be the entrance to begin the tour. After the tour, feel free to choose from the many selections of beer in the taproom (at your own expense).
Tour of Understanding Basic Football

Course Description: Are you ready for some football? If you are a seasoned football fan or new to the sport, this is the tour for you! Coach Beasley will provide an overview of the parameters of how to prepare for a game (team players and coaching) and rules of the game. The tour will be interactive, so bring your questions and comments! This one-time class will meet on Wednesday, September 10, 9:30 to 10:30, at Choctawhatchee High School.
Class Leader Bio(s): Frank Beasley grew up in Okaloosa County and played right tackle under state champion Lionel Fayard before graduating as an Indian in 1995. Following graduation from FSU, his first coaching job was at Lake City Columbia High School. He held the role of Coordinator of Athletics for the Florida High School Athletic Association and was extended his dream job as Choctawhatchee High School Head Football Coach in February, 2021.

Tour of Traditions Workshop

Course Description: At Traditions Workshop, the goal is to keep memories alive and restoring family heirlooms. Traditions Workshop is a hybrid shop. Power tools can be found onsite, but you can also find can adze, hand planes, saws, scrapers, needle and thread. Our tour will consist of providing an overview of the Traditions Workshop crafts and classes offered such as blacksmithing, stain glass, drop spindle and more. This one-time tour, geared to the introduction of restorations skills and availability, will meet on Thursday September 11, from 10:00 to 12:00, at: Traditions Workshop 418 Green Acres Rd, Unit 4 Fort Walton Beach
Class Leader Bio(s): When Lt. Col. David Sandlin retired from the Air Force after a 22-year career as an A-10 and F-16 fighter pilot and 13 years as a software contractor, it didn't take long before he was ready for something new. And as it turned out, something new was actually something old, after forming his Traditions Workshop furniture repair and restoration business. David believes that "Part of restoration is doing the blacksmithing work, because some of the pieces we get in are antique and you can't find the hardware anymore, so we have to make it".

Tour of Niceville Slabs and Cookies

This one-time class will meet on Monday, September 15th, 9:30 to 11:30, at Niceville Slabs & Cookies located at 207 Kelly Road Unit B in Niceville.
Class Leader Bio(s): Genevieve Burgess is a Jill of all trades and veteran of the Air Force. Genevieve has been woodworking since 2018, when she attended Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for Wood Manufacturing Technology.

Tour of Wildwood Garden Shoppe and Nursery
with Sydnee Anderson

Course Description: We will tour the grounds of the nursery and learn about indoor landscape and garden plants best for this area, workshops available, event venue, terrarium bar, and their selection of botanically themed gifts all supervised by Mr. McGregor, the Shoppe cat. The leader will be presenting on Fall plants – what to plant, when to prune, how to prepare for winter, etc. She will answer all your plant related questions. This one-time tour will meet on Wednesday, September 17, 10:00 to 12:00. at Wildwood Garden Shoppe and Nursery, 6 10th Avenue in Shalimar.
Class Leader Bio(s): Sydnee Anderson is a 2017 graduate of Texas A&M Horticulture Department. She is an expert on all things plant related, possesses a wealth of information, and will speak to and answer any specific questions for your garden and landscape needs.

Tour of Air Force Armament Museum

Course Description: In this exclusive tour of the Air Force Armament Museum participants will explore and experience the legacy of military aviation through an extensive collection of aircraft and armament. You will dive into the stories behind the technology and bravery that shaped our skies. The museum is dedicated to the collection, preservation and exhibition of artifacts and memorabilia associated with the US Air Force. Their collection includes aircraft ranging from the WWII era to the present. This one-time tour will meet on Thursday, September 18, 10:30 to 12:30, at the Air Force Armament Museum.

Tour of Cookie Decorating

Course Description: Sundy Keichel, a master artist of frosting, will share tips, tricks, and all supplies required to decorate her beautiful cookies. Students will take home whatever they decorate. This one-time class will meet on Friday, September 19, 10:00 to 11:30. There is an additional $5.00 fee for supplies.
