Course Description:  A fun hands on ‘working’ class learning how to take better photos with your iPhone using simple techniques and built-in tools. This class covers composition, lighting, camera settings, editing, organizing photos and travel photography tips to help you capture clear, creative, and memorable images. This is a 7-week class.

Instructor Bio:  Dee La Garde an enthusiastic traveler and photographer, I have spent years capturing landscapes, cities, wildlife, and everyday moments during my travels around the World. While starting with a Canon Camera for years, I now just use my iPhone. I enjoy sharing simple tips and tools that help others gain confidence. 

Course Description: Have you taken an Introduction to Zentangle class and want to learn more about enhancing your Zentangle creations? Then Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) is for you! 

This class requires that you have studied the basics of the Zetangle Method. We will take this meditative art form further as we enhance our original Zentangle drawings with highlighting, color, and creativity. This class will meet on Zoom, and students will be required to purchase their own supplies. 

Instructor Bio: Shannon Flynn is a retired classroom teacher who found Zentangle in 2020 and fell in love. She had never before been successful at any visual art form, but the Zentangle Method changed that! In 2020 she attended the international seminar to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher and started teaching small classes locally. Shannon also leads an online group of tanglers called Fabtangling Fun as they participate in guided tangling twice monthly. She has been a guest instructor at two Zenjo Zentangle retreats, 2022 in Wisconsin and 2023 in Wales, UK. She was also a guest instructor online for Holly Jolly July 2026. This is a 7-week class, no class on September 29.

To participate, you must know The Zentangle Method and have access to personal internet plus technology capable of using the Zoom app.  Students will be responsible for purchasing their own supplies. 7-week class meeting September 8, 15, 22 October 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Course Description:  This class goes beyond basics to create a finished project with machine embroidery. We will be making a pillow titled ‘America the Beautiful’ with our BERNINA 5 Series embroidery machines. With this project, we will explore techniques of in-the-hoop piecing, appliqué, and quilting, then finishing the project with our classroom sewing machines.  Supply fee covers everything except the stuffing! There is a $60 supply fee.

Instructor Bio:  Margaret is an avid sewist, maker, and expert in machine embroidery. She is a past president of Silver Threads Quilt Guild.  She loves sewing & quilting, going to sewing events & retreats, and in her spare time, Margaret works at Stitcher’s Quest. 

Additional Notes:  Class fee $60, required to cover supplies payable at first class. Students should bring:  Small scissors (ITH embroidery scissors recommended), seam ripper, fabric marking pens, 2 dz Wonder Clips, crafters project box (suggested 14”x14”x2”).

Course Description:  With help from the instructor, you will create several acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes. No experience is necessary. This is a 4-week double session class. There is a $40 non-refundable fee.

Instructor Bio:  Pat Roberts is a local artist. She is an active member of the Arts and Design Society and Okaloosa Public Arts. Pat exhibits as well as teaches at ADSO and HH Arts.

Additional Notes:  This is a double session 4-week course meeting September 10, 17, 24 and October 1. There is a $40 non-refundable supply fee due at the first class.

Course Description:  Learn the basics of playing the ukulele in a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment. This beginner-friendly class covers essential chords, simple strumming patterns, and easy songs to help you build confidence. No prior musical experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm!

Instructor Bio:  Jackie Youngblood began playing ukulele several years ago with a CLL beginner’s class.  She immediately fell in love with the instrument and now teaches two ukulele groups and performs in the community.

Notes:  Bring your ukulele (Jackie has a couple for sale or look on FB Marketplace for a used ukulele).  You will also need a tuner.  The Church at Shalimar, 1 Old Ferry Rd, Shalimar.

Course Description:  There is so much more to knitting than just Knit 1 and Purl 2. Come join us to learn the basic knit stitch and purl stitch and expand those skills to include casting on, binding off, increases, and decreases. Once you learn these building blocks, you can make scarves, sweaters, shawls, blankets, and so much more. This is a 6-week class. A class supplies kit can be purchased for $20.

Instructor Bio:  Kristine Matthews initially learned to knit in a junior high home economics class, and she picked it back up 25 years ago. Today she’s rarely without pretty yarn and needles somewhere close by.

Catherine Burger has been knitting for many years and has knit countless baby items, blankets, dishcloths, and scarves over the years. She has recently expanded into socks, hats and adult garments and is enjoying every stitch.

Additional Notes:  This is a 6-week class meeting September 11, 18, 25, October 2, 9, and 16. The class requires around 200 yards of worsted weight yarn (preferably not cotton) and a pair of size 8 or 9 straight and/or circular needles. You have the option of purchasing supplies from me on the first day of class for $20.

Course Description:  Knit II (Intermediate Knitting) picks up where Knit I (Beginning Knitting) left off.  We will use our knowledge of the knit stitch and purl stitch and learn to read patterns, knit in the round, and make cables, stripes, and lace. You must know how to knit and purl to take this class.

The class requires around 600 yards of worsted weight yarn (preferably not cotton) in two or more colors, a pair of size 7 or 8 16” circular needles and a pair of size 7 or 8 32” circular needles. You have the option of purchasing supplies from me on the first day of class for $25.

Course Description: You will learn hot wax techniques, use of a griddle and more. You will take home art pieces from every class. This is a 4-week double class session.

Instructor Bio: Helen Harris has been involved with art and all mediums her whole life and Encaustics now top the list. Helen has been teaching for 15 years, and she is a member of ADSO, OPA, OAA, owns HH Arts and is a member of Okaloosa Women of Honor and Hall of Fame under the arts category.
