Course Description:  Updated "How-to's" on travel vacations, cruising, land tours, and trains. How to use the various reservation options to get good flights. How to pack, take what is needed, and what not to take. Karen and Denny will share their own knowledge and experience and bring in professionals to assist. The class will be interactive with all sharing their info. This is a 6-week class starting September 10.

Instructor Bio:  Karen and Denny Lauer love to travel on land or at sea and have lots of experience to share. Whether giving general information or specific tips, they have fun in their classes and make sure all enjoy.

Notes: This is a 6-week class meeting September 10, 17, 24 October 1, 8 and 15.

Tour Description: The 3rd Planet Brewing Co. was founded by two Air Force veterans in 2015 and now produces around 2,000 barrels annually. The brewery has received many awards, including the Finest Craft Brewery in NW Florida. During the tour on September 10 at 4:00, the head brewer will explain the brewing process and the types of beer produced.

Tour Host Bio: Brian Detweiler is the Head Brewer and a co-owner of the brewery.

Notes: We will meet Thursday, September 10 at 4:00PM, at the 3rd Planet Brewery Co., 1400 John Sims Parkway, Niceville, FL. The brewery garage door will be lifted upon arrival and we will meet at the entrance to begin the tour. After the tour, feel free to choose from the many selections of beer in the taproom (at your own expense).

Tour Description: Mary Esther Community Garden encourages residents to grow organic produce, and employs the practices of composting, collecting rainwater, recycling and the use of environmentally safe pest management. They give back to the community by inviting residents, schools, community centers, and food banks to manage a garden plot for their needs.  Ten garden plots are designated for charity donations.  Come see this exciting work and learn how you can join in. This one-time tour will meet on September 30, 9:00 to 10:00, at the Mary Esther Community Garden.

Tour Host Bio: Ruth Sykes is the Community Garden Coordinator.  Ruth has managed the Community Garden since 2013 and, with the help of Master Gardeners, educates the member gardeners about the growing process and best practices for plant production.  The Community Garden members have harvested and donated over 2000 pounds of vegetables to local charities and food banks.

Notes: This one-time tour will meet at the Mary Esther Community Garden in Springdale Park on Mary Esther Drive (not Mary Esther Cutoff) next to the water tower. Ample parking is available. Participants are encouraged to wear gardening clothing.

Course Description: Weekly we will discover various parts of the world, with insight of places I have visited and have done tours to (Germany, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Dubai….). From castle hoping to golf course explorations, and European car factory tours, we will discover a variety of special locations. Students will also have an opportunity to share a travel story of their own. This will be a 6-weeks class

Instructor Bio: Juanita Harvin is a retired Host Nation Relations and Protocol Director. Her European family roots make her tours very extensive. As the owner of EurWay Tours, an Army brat, wife of a retired AF service member and the mother of 2 DoDDS graduates, this has allowed her to visit many countries. Currently she is a Travel Agency owner.

 

Notes: This will be a 6-week class meeting on September 14, 21, 28 October 5, 12 and November 2.  No classes October 19 and 27.
