Club Purpose: We help members make the most of their computers and explore new technology.

Focus: While our meeting room is a Windows PC classroom, the club is no longer Windows-only. With our emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), we will show you how to use free online AI tools that work on any computer or smartphone-Windows, Mac, Chromebook, or mobile.

Meetings:

• When: 2nd Thursday of each month, 10:30 a.m.
• Where: Room 357, UWF Campus
• Format: Informal and friendly. Each session includes a short presentation plus time to share tips, ask questions, and solve tech problems together.

Class Leader Bio(s): Hal earned his PhD in Physics from UC Santa Barbara after serving as a carrier-based Navy fighter pilot while the Korean war was winding down. Since 1994, he’s been heavily involved in CLL classes and administration. In 1996 he developed the CLL’s original computerized registration program that was used continuously until COVID stopped in-person registration. Over the years he has led various computer-related CLL courses.

1. Selecting (clicking on) the title of the item you want, then
2. Click the "Register" button. 

Here’s a checklist for the full process…

• Search for the class you want.
• IMPORTANT - Click the class title to link (drill down) to the FULL details for that specific class.
• Once there, click the “Register” button to add the class to your cart.
  • Note that each time you add an item to the cart, you will be asked “Who is attending?” The answer will be You.
  • Exception – you can register for a spouse, family member or friend by selecting the “Add person” option. NOTE: when you use this method, both you and the added person will be registered under one email for all your classes.

• Once your first selection has been added to your cart, 
  • A cart icon will appear in the upper right corner of the webpage. Click this icon at any time to view your cart.
  • You can either “Continue Browsing” or “Checkout”.

• Once you have all the items you would like in your cart, begin the Checkout process. If this is your first time using the CourseStorm system, just input the following when prompted to create your account…
  • First you will be asked to enter your email address.
    • This email will be where you receive registration confirmation and communications from your instructors.
  • Next, enter your first and last name, phone number, address and create your account password.
    • If/when you forget your password, you can always use the “Forgot Password?” link to reset it.
  • Be sure to check the box to agree with the terms of service (for CourseStorm) and Select Continue.
• Next Box (or Boxes) – Answer any questions and/or agreements, then select Save and Continue.  Example questions/agreements...
  •  CLL Refund Policy – Please use link to view/read the policy, then check “Yes, I agree".
  • Please verify that you are registered for only one of any duplicate session courses (i.e., Basic Pottery, Creative Fused Glass, etc.)

• Final Box - Review and Payment
  • You'll see a listing of items in your cart at the top of the box.
  • Use the View Details link to update any Contact Info, or to make any last-minute additions or deletions if you wish.
  • Enter requested Credit Card information for payment.
    • You may uncheck the Remember card box or leave it there – your choice.
  • Select Complete Purchase – You’re done!

Your account is now created, and you can return to the CLL CourseStorm page at any point and login to your account using your email and password (Login box is on the upper right of the page).

Course Description: Have fun while improving and/or refreshing your German conversational skills. This is not a beginner’s German class, you need to know some basic German.

Instructors Bio: Gisela Healey was born in Germany, earned an MS in Education and Library Science, and taught high school German for 18 years.  She looks forward to having fun teaching at CLL.

Course Description: This class will look at our relationship with machines, and some disastrous accidents, and incidents, that have happened over the years in the aviation, maritime fields, and some even some unusual criminal activities.  We will look at what went wrong and what was done to fix the problems. Accidents are normally a series of small incidents that end up causing something to fail. I will provide visual aids and summaries for each class.

Instructor Bio: Robert Huffman retired as an Air Force NCO after 27 years of service.  He was a C-130 Crew Chief and Air Force Instructor.  He also worked for Boeing. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Course Description: Class will study the "Original Intent" of the Framers using writings of the Founders.  A study of The Federalist Papers and other writings by the Framers will be used.  Mr. Brock has developed a system for memorizing parts of the Constitution.  In addition, a Dramatization of the events at the Constitutional Convention will be shown. 

Instructor Bio: Paul Wendel Brock has a B.A. in History and a M.A. in Educational Leadership. He taught Advanced Placement (college level) History at Ft. Walton Beach High School and retired after 30 years. 

Notes: $3.00 for materials for a pocket size Constitution will be collected in class. 

Course Description:  Want to expand your social skills while having fun? This class will give you an opportunity to do that by learning new equipment and card games. Come join us and learn some new games and get refreshed on old standards.

Instructor Bio:  Karen Lauer is an experienced artist and CLL class leader. She loves to play games and introduced Wizard to the CLL community and camp conferences. 

Course Description:  An overview of the Bible, Genesis to Revelation, with emphasis on end time events. How did we get the Bible? Many relevant topics, including Archaeology, Modern Science and the Bible. Is the Bible relevant to today? What does the Bible tell us about the future? What does the Bible say about UFOs and other life in the universe?

Instructor Bio:  Dr. Ron Weiss earned graduate degrees in Biology, Education, Marine Science, Business, Marketing, Wildlife Management, Archeology and Anthropology

Course Description:  Want to try a fun project and learn some quilting skills?  We will be using easy piecing grids to make a giant bow that will dress up any holiday door!  We’ll be using our classroom BERNINA machines to stitch up this project. This is a 7-week class with a $50 supply fee.

Instructor Bio:  Karol Pittsenberger has been sewing since elementary school – learning from her mother and two older sisters. Starting with doll clothes, then moving on to make her own clothes and then wedding dresses for friends!  At some point, she switched to pillows, drapes, and home décor. In 2015, before leaving on a cruise, a quilting friend asked her to pick up interesting patterns and fabric from quilt shops in Alaska.  She obliged by getting one for her friend, and one for herself!  That was it, she fell in love with the fabrics and designs but didn’t know how to put them together until she took a quilting class at Stitcher’s Quest. This is a 7-week class. There is a $50 class fee.

Additional Notes:  

This is a 7-week class meeting, September 8, 15, 22, 29, October 13, 20 and 27. A class fee of $50 which is payable at the first class to cover supplies. Students should bring:  Fabric scissors, thread snips, seam ripper, fabric marking pens, pins, 6” ruler, 2 dz Wonder Clips, crafters project box (suggested 14”x14”x2”).
