Tour of The Board Chef - January 19

Course Description: Each student will build and take home a cheese and charcuterie board with ingredients sourced and provided by The Board Chef. You will taste and cut a minimum of 8 cheeses and 3 types of salami, learn how to make salami roses, and have an opportunity to play with added accoutrements such as dried fruits, olives and sweetie peppers. This tour will meet on Monday, January 19, at 10:00 and last between 1.5 to 2 hours. A fee of $25 will be collected at the door to cover ingredient costs. The fee will be collected at the door and is payable by cash or credit card.
Class Leader Bio(s): Annmarie has been in the food industry since her first job at the age of 14 in a Southern California pie shop. Since then, she has worked on every side of this amazing industry, not only as a brands manager for a national broad liner as a center of the plate specialist, but also as a successful entrepreneur. She took a leap during Covid, took out every tool, called on every business relationship she had, made a plan, moved to Fort Walton Beach and started The Board Chef.
Notes: This one-day tour will meet at 322 Harbor Place SW, Fort Walton Beach. This is Annmarie’s residence. There is plenty of street parking available.
Creative Fused Glass B

Course Description: Fused glass creations are beautiful and easy to create. This is not stained glass or blown glass but is known as kiln formed glass. During the 4-week class we will make 4 projects with sheet glass, noodles, stringers and dots of glass. We will fire your projects bi-weekly in our kilns. You’ll learn new techniques in glass every class and can make dishes, suncatchers and two other projects. The art glass we are using is handmade, very unique and beautiful. It is very expensive glass and we fire the pieces in the kiln for up to two firings that take almost 24 hours each. You will be amazed at what you create! This is a 4-week class meeting every other Tuesday, starting January 20. There is a $45 per class fee ($180 total) to cover materials and firing. If you pay for the classes in full at the first class, the charge will be $40.00 per class ($160 total).
Class Leader Bio(s): Anita Vasquez and Rosanne Painter Maas are lifelong crafters and love making things out of glass. Notes: This is a 4-week class meeting on alternate Tuesdays, on January 20, February 3, 17 and March 3. This gives us ample time to fire your projects in our kilns. Students need to wear closed toed shoes (like sneakers) in the studio. Eye glasses are required in the studio which we provide or you may use your own. It is located in the office complex on the corner of David Street and Skipper Avenue to the right of “Just Think Cake”.
Tour of Okaloosa Technical College

Course Description: Okaloosa Technical College (OTC) is growing! Join us for a terrific opportunity for an update and tour of the programs extended. OTC offers quality post-secondary programs featuring state-of-the-art training facilities and professional, industry-experienced instructors. OTC programs provide nationally recognized industry certifications that will qualify you to enter the workforce or continue your education. CLL tour attendees will take a walking tour of the on-site programs OTC currently offers and plans for future programs.

Notes: We will meet at: Okaloosa Technical College 1976 Lewis Turner Blvd Fort Walton Beach Parking for CLL Tour attendees will be identified and marked off. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
Tour of Magnolia Grill

Course Description: The Magnolia Grill is located in downtown Fort Walton Beach and is equal parts museum and restaurant. The home was ordered from a 1910 Sears Catalog. It is filled with pieces of local and military history. Tom and Peggy Rice, the owners, have deep family roots. Tom Rice will lead you through the entire restaurant explaining the significance of many items. He will also walk you around the outside to explain unique construction. This tour will meet Thursday, January 22 from 9:30-11:00.
Class Leader Bio(s): Tom Rice is not only a restaurant owner, but a pillar of the Fort Walton Beach community having won many awards for his civic contributions. To name just a few, he received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by establishing the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast for veterans and their families and serves on the Board of Directors of Veterans Florida raising funds to construct the Veterans Tribute Tower at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Notes: We will meet at Magnolia Grill 157 Brooks Street SE Fort Walton Beach Following the tour, you are invited and encouraged to stay for lunch (at your expense) to meet other tour attendees and enjoy the vast and varied menu.
Tour of Painted Rose Salon

Course Description: Lacy Seda opened the Painted Rose salon seven years ago and specializes in hair health, extensions and color. She added an infrared sauna last year which seats four. All participants will have the chance to spend time in the sauna (robes are provided) as well as hear Lacy explain infrared benefits, specialty hair care, extensions, and other salon services offered.

Tour of Creative Card Making
with Michelle Rushing
Course Description: Discover the joy of creativity and connection in this Kit Card Class. Stampin’ Up! kits are designed to introduce you to the fun of paper crafting. Depending on your chosen kit, you’ll create 6 to 9 handmade cards. Each kit includes stamps, ink, precut pieces, and step by step instructions. Michelle will guide you through the process of stamping images and sentiments, assembling your cards, and adding personal touches to each project. No prior experience is necessary.
Class Leader Bio(s): Michelle Rushing has been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for over 10 years. Today she enjoys all kinds of creative projects including stamping, die cutting, card making, and scrapbooking. Through her Stampin’ Butterfly social media pages, she shares paper crafting tips and projects to help others discover the joy of creating something handmade.
Notes: A fee of $30 will be collected at the door to cover the cost of the card kits.
Tour of Waste Management FWB Material Recovery Facility

Course Description: During this tour participants will see and receive information about the full process of the recycle stream from where the trucks dump their material on the top floor to the final bales and where it is shipped out to local mills. Information will be shared and shown about specific pieces of technology and equipment along the system stream used at the facility to separate out the different recyclable materials. This one-time tour will meet on Tuesday January 27 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Waste Management FWB Material Recovery Facility.
Class Leader Bio(s): Sam Peterson is the manager of the recycling center. He runs the facility and logistics part of the company while growing volume with the sales team.

Tour of Creative Fused Glass - January 30

Course Description: Fused glass creations are beautiful and easy to create. This is not stained glass or blown glass but is known as kiln formed glass. During the 2-hour tour we will make 2 projects with sheet glass, noodles, stringers and dots of glass. We will fire your projects within 2 weeks following the tour date. The art glass we are using is handmade, very unique and beautiful. It is very expensive glass, and we fire the pieces in the kiln for up to two firings that take almost 24 hours each. You will be amazed at what you create! A $30 fee will be collected on January 30 to cover materials and firing. We will meet on January 30 from 1:00 to 3:00.
