Zumba Gold Seated Dance Fitness

Course Description: This is a fun dance fitness workout while safely seated in a chair. There are dance routines that work on each of the major muscle groups in a fun way that does not seem like you’re working out, ending with a 5-minute stretch.

Class Leader Bio(s): Dawn Hamilton has been a Zumba instructor for 9 years. She has Zumba Gold classes in Niceville and FWB. She has loved the joy of dancing and working out with everyone regardless of their fitness level.

Pickleball - Intermediate (10:00 – 11:00)

Course Description: This class is designed for the pickleball player who has a basic understanding of the rules of the game, knows how to score and can serve and return the ball consistently. The class will be run with 30 minutes of drills and 30 minutes of instructed game play.

Notes: Please bring your paddle. If you don’t have one, we have a few that can be borrowed. Gym shoes are required, preferably court shoes.

Class Leader Bio(s): Stan Budzinski has been playing pickleball for a year and also loves sharing and playing the sport with others. Ann Vaughan has been playing pickleball for many years and loves sharing and playing the sport with others.

Pickleball – Beginners I

Course Description: This class is designed for beginning students of the game of pickleball or those who need a brush up on the basics of the game. During class, we will teach the rules of the game, scoring, serving and game play. The class will consist of 30 minutes of drills and 30 minutes of instructed play. This is the same class as Pickleball -Beginners II at 1:00-2:00.

Notes: Please bring your paddle.  If you don’t have one, we have a few that can be borrowed. Gym shoes are required, preferably court shoes.

Course Description: This class is designed for beginning students of the game of pickleball or those who need a brush up on the basics of the game. The class will consist of 30 minutes of drills and 30 minutes of instructed play, with 30 minutes of free play afterwards. This is the same class as Pickleball Beginners I at 10:00-11:00.

Chair Yoga Gentle Flow

Course Description: Chair Yoga Vinyasa Flow is conducive to beginners or someone wishing to continue a gentle Hatha Yoga practice seated and/or standing with support of a chair. 7-week class.

Notes: This is a 7-week class meeting on January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21 and 28. You will need a sturdy chair such as a metal folding chair, a yoga mat, and electronics to connect to zoom including camera and microphone focused on yourself.

Class Leader Bio(s): Annette Seda has Yoga Alliance 200-HR RYT certification.

Exercise for Flexibility and Balance

Course Description: Flexibility and balance are two on-going challenges for older adults. This class concentrates on stretching routines to improve flexibility, and on balancing techniques. Students proceed at their individual paces and are encouraged to practice outside of class.

Notes: Bring a mat or blanket for floor exercise.

Class Leader Bio(s): Jean Lee-Jackson, a Registered Physical Therapist, is now a consultant who specializes in home health care. From years of experience, she sees the detrimental effects from a lack of exercise.

Senior Dance Fitness with Sundy (formerly Zumba Gold)

Course Description: Senior Dance Fitness is designed for the active older adult or beginner. A goal of the class is to move a little and have a lot of fun! A variety of rhythms are used for a low-impact cardio workout that will help improve balance, circulation, strength, and flexibility. All moves can be modified to suit your needs and abilities. No class January 16.

Notes: *No class on January 16, makeup class available on March 13. Wear comfortable shoes/clothing and bring water. Classes meet in the gymnasium at Fort Walton Beach Rec Center, 132 Jet Dr, FWB.

Class Leader Bio(s): Sundy Keichel has been teaching fitness classes since 2010. She currently teaches Senior Dance Fitness, Pilates, and Senior Conditioning in FWB.

Chair Yoga

Course Description: No need to get up and down from the floor. Classes will be conducted seated in a chair or standing position. Please wear comfortable clothing. Parking and entrance is in the back of the building. Please arrive 15 minutes before class time to use the restroom and get set up for class to start on time. 6-week class starting January 23.

Notes: This is a 6-week course meeting January 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20 and 27. Symmetry Wellness22 SW Beal Pkwy, FWB, FL 32548Parking and entrance in the back of building.

Class Leader Bio(s): Lura is a Certified 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher. She has been teaching the softer side yoga such as Restorative, Gentle, and Beginners classes for the last 8 years and practicing yoga for 17 years.
